Alone after school,
I leafed through her
copy of Lady Diana’s biography —
slick bikini photos came
loose in my hands.
All I remember then is
pulling out a bra from the washing machine
and trying it on. Placing my palms
over its empty cups, I imagined
I had the princess’s bust.

Arjun Rajendran’s first book, SNAKE WINE, was published by Les Editions du Zaporogue, 2014.
